For Memorial Day we planned to go camping, however, our hopes were dashed when the fire restrictions were put into place. It was understandable considering how dry it has been. There's a huge risk of forest fires and that's the last thing our beautiful, great-wide west needs. We took a drive and found a few of our favorite Prescott National Forest locations nearly empty. We snagged a few picnic areas and let the kids explore for a few hours. Our children are truly happy in nature, and I am thankful we can provide open spaces for them to discover. I learned that a little dirt hasn't hurt anyone, and my son prefers having dirty hands. There's no arguing with a 2-year-old.
